Concept
I have always been drawn to the unforgiving nature of brutalist architecture. The way concrete, cement, brick, and the elements that compose them respond to light remind me of the powerful nature of mankind. This publication, rendered in black and white, attempts a visual interpretation of the architectural and social phenomenon.
Material
In tandem with my obsession for texture and paper, the publication is printed on newsprint so that the reader has a tactile experience with the work.
Photography
In addition to the publication design, all photography was executed by me. Studio portrait and still life combined with architectural shots create a narrative based around the raw concept.
